Our valves, sold within the European Union, must comply with the PED, the Pressure Equipment Directive. This is European legislation that prescribes the requirements for equipment that works under pressure in order to be safe.
For a specific high end application Wouter Witzel tested a DN 500 rubber lined valve. The valve was equipped with a fast acting pneumatic actuator provided with boosters and a PLC controlled positioner to open or close the valve within 2 seconds.

During regular assembly of butterfly valves various greases are used between the moving components. The grease is also applied to create a smooth and easy assembling between the disc and rubber lining.
In certain industries however it is not allowed for safety or quality reasons to supply butterfly valves containing any kind of silicons or grease.
In the LEAN implementation Wouter Witzel recently conducted a customer satisfaction survey under a selection of key accounts. The aim of this research is to determine where the focus of demand projects should lie.
The majority of the assessments were positive, the actual remed actions were started. More than a few months will be a measure of measuring our obligations.
All in all a positive next step in the implementation of the LEAN philosophy.
